The event of Gao Xingjian being awarded the Nobel Prize in literature did not excite the Chinese people in China, not only that, but on the contrary, as if a nest of hornets which is being stirred up, Chinese intellectuals felt the unfairness and one of them said, "If Gao Xingjian was qualified to be awarded the Nobel Prize in literature, then at least more than one hundred people in China should deserve this honor.
Probably Gao Xingjian himself had never thought that he would receive such glory. Gao Xingjian didn't think that he would be awarded and it turned out that he did, on the other hand, thousands of people who think that they should have been honored but their dreams never come true. This probably is where the secret hides and that is why Gao Xingjian received the prize.
In One Man's Bible and Soul Mountain, Gao Xingjian has showed that he had been honest to himself, the helplessness to the ridiculous history, and his stubborn efforts which in order to get away from the Chinese traditional point of view, the communist party official language system and the way of thinking, which will make everyone who has once lived in the communist party system, who has been working so hard to get rid of the print by the community party in vain, be filled with a feeling of deep veneration. He finally found himself to be a simple, extraordinary and real person.
How difficult for someone who has been distorted under a system to turn back into normal and natural again? And this is hard to be understood by those literature masters who have lived as if fish in the pond and decorate the world with peace and good fortune and gain both fame and wealth.
I am grateful for the Nobel Committee for Literature. They are doing something very challenging. They are giving Chinese people a lesson, although masters in China still need to take some time to understand this:
How much tenacious effort did Gao Xingjian have to make in order to not tell lies?
How hard can it be for a man who grows up in China to not tell lies?
